Goshdarn this was a fascinating read!!! John Brown was fascinating, his plan was fascinating, the people around him were fascinating, the public reaction to him was fascinating, the political and historical effects of his plan were fascinating, etc. Tony Horwitz is truly gifted at picking interesting topics, researching them thoroughly, and presenting them with intelligence and entertainment. Not much else to say, I guess, beyond the fact that I totally recommend this one.
