Finally! I’ve had a pretty dry year reading-wise, where books just haven’t really been speaking to me. My last couple were really good, marking a bit of an uptick, but then I hit this gem, and hallelujah my love of books is restored! Hesse tells a compelling story about a community, its members, and a seriously odd occurrence that I am shocked to admit I am hearing of for the very first time. I read this whole thing in under a week, which is super lightning quick for me (the world’s slowest reader). Bravo, highly recommend. (And special shout-out to my mom for gifting it to me!)
