Three star review, originally posted here on October 23, 2019.
Meh. I was looking forward to this book, but it fell kinda flat. Like other reviewers have already said, this book is basically just preaching to the choir. I was hoping for more tangible information and data, but I didn’t really learn anything new. Valenti seemed to meander around i her writing, going on tangents for which I never really understood the relevance. She was also very dismissive of opposing viewpoints without ever clearly explaining why her view is better. It certainly didn’t help that I did the audiobook, and the narrator read every opposing viewpoint in a pissy mocking voice.
Still, if you’re a feminist who feels like just listening to someone with whom you already agree rage on for a while for your own personal enjoyment, then go ahead.
