Goodreads Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

Four Star review, originally posted here on March 14, 2015.

Yes, I am over a decade late to the party, but I finally got around to reading (the first) Harry Potter. I liked it. I know that as a kid I would have loved it. Rowling does a wonderful job introducing us and young Harry to this amazing, beautiful world full of fantastic, amazing characters. Getting immersed was definitely a fun journey.

The actual plot, however was just stupid. It has me worried for the remaining books. Since all of the fun came from learning the kooky ins-and-outs of the wizard world, can the magic really last into the rest of the series when we are already familiar with the wizard world? Or is it just going to be more stupid crap about Voldemort? I guess I’ll see soon enough.

(And yes, I know that every single other person on Goodreads probably knows the answers to these questions already since I’m the last person in the world to read these books. Please don’t give anything away.)
